Doodling has been one of the most liberating forms of creative work for me.
Sometimes I feel completely lost in an illustrative world while drawing — almost like being transported into the kind of vintage, whimsical worlds I find in Ghibli films.
This is one of the story-line doodles I created while working with a social media marketing agency, as part of a visual concept for a hotel interior project in Madurai.
There was something about Madurai that made me fall in love with the project almost immediately — its heritage, history, people, food, culture, architecture, traditions, and all the little details that make its culture so distinctive.
I still love looking at these drawings.
Some projects stay with you long after the work is done. This is one of them.
